Know the difference between the villages
Alsancak is a convenient base on the western approach to Kyrenia, with residential streets, restaurants and beach facilities spread across a wider area than a compact old town. Lapta extends farther west, with village streets on the slope and coastal accommodation nearer the sea. Check the precise map pin: a listing with either village name may require a drive to the beach or to dinner.
Plan beach and coastal time
The west coast mixes managed beach clubs, hotel access points and rocky stretches. Ask about current day-entry fees and facilities rather than assuming every shoreline is public beach with services. A coastal path or promenade is best checked locally for its current length and condition; road crossings can interrupt a walk. For a different nature outing, see the Alagadi beach guide east of Kyrenia.
Where to stay and eat
Choose accommodation by walking distance to the places you will use most. Some visitors prefer a villa and self-catering; others want a hotel with breakfast and a pool. Compare the broader Kyrenia hotel selection with villa planning advice. Restaurant opening, especially outside high season, should be confirmed before setting an evening route.
Getting around
A rental car makes village-to-village trips easier, but taxis can work for a shorter stay. The car-hire page covers booking checks. Allow extra time for travel into central Kyrenia at busy periods, and arrange the return trip if you plan to dine late.
Make a focused day
Spend a relaxed morning on the coast, choose one village lunch and save Kyrenia harbour or Bellapais for another half-day. This gives the west coast room to be a destination rather than merely a hotel address.
