Two main arrival approaches

For a UK departure, compare an Ercan (ECN) itinerary with flights into Larnaca or Paphos and an onward journey to northern accommodation. The route that looks shortest in a flight search may not be simplest once a connection, border crossing and late-night transfer are included. Our Ercan flight guide explains airline searches, while the Larnaca transfer guide covers the other common approach.

The UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office says Republic of Cyprus authorities consider arrival through Ercan an illegal entry to the Republic, which can affect a later crossing. This is particularly relevant if your holiday uses both sides of the island. The correct route depends on your passport, residency and itinerary. Read the current Green Line guide and official entry advice for everyone travelling; an airline ticket alone does not establish a right to cross.

Compare complete flight itineraries

Search nearby departure dates and airports, then check whether a connection in Türkiye is on one booking or separate tickets. Confirm the connecting airport, baggage allowance, transit documents and what happens after a delay. Airline networks and schedules change, so check the actual itinerary with the airline before making plans around a particular route. A low fare can become expensive after baggage, seat fees, an overnight connection or a long transfer.

Plan the final transfer

Ask a driver or hotel for a quote to the exact accommodation address, not just a town name. A Larnaca pickup must include the border route and any waiting policy; an Ercan pickup needs a meeting point and contact if the flight lands late. If you intend to drive, check the rental agreement and insurance for the part of Cyprus you will visit. Our transport comparison helps decide whether you need a car after arrival.

A pre-payment checklist

Keep passport validity, official entry rules, luggage, transfers, insurance cover for the north and hotel check-in times in one place. Compare the whole journey for your party, not just headline airfares. Travel advice and airline schedules can change quickly, so recheck shortly before departure. This guide is not a live fare list or advice on an individual immigration decision.
