Top things to do
Build your visit around Dipkarpaz, a beach stop and one historical or religious site. Leave additional viewpoints optional. Slow roads, a long lunch or a change in the weather can quickly alter a tightly packed plan.
Dipkarpaz and major attractions
Dipkarpaz, also called Rizokarpaso, is a useful centre for exploring the peninsula. The Ayios Philon area and Apostolos Andreas are separate excursions. Treat religious sites respectfully and check current access before making a special journey.
Golden Beach and swimming
Golden Beach is a major draw, but its setting should not be confused with a fully serviced resort beach. Bring what you need, assess sea conditions and do not assume there is a lifeguard. Keep clear of marked nesting areas and take your rubbish away.
Where to stay
For a peninsula overnight, confirm accommodation directly before setting off, including meals, check-in and the exact access road. A Bafra resort is an alternative base nearer the approach to the peninsula, not a substitute for staying near Dipkarpaz.
Choose your area
Dipkarpaz is a practical focus for the eastern part of a two-day trip. Yeni Erenköy is farther west; İskele and Bafra are separate starting points. When comparing a room, ask for a map pin rather than relying on the broad description “Karpaz”.
Food and supplies
Ask your accommodation about dinner and breakfast in advance, especially outside busy periods. Carry water and snacks rather than depending on every beach stop having an open café. In a village, ask what is available that day before committing to a long meal stop.
Getting there
Most itineraries involve a vehicle and a route chosen around the overnight stop. Study the whole route first, then save an offline map. Our driving guide covers route and rental checks.
Airport transfers
If travelling straight from an airport, request a quote for the precise property and confirm the longer final leg. Use airport transfer options and tell your host about the expected arrival time. A village name alone may not identify a rural entrance.
Car hire and road conditions
Arrange car hire with the intended itinerary in mind. Confirm where the vehicle may be driven; do not take an unpaved shortcut merely because a navigation app suggests it. Refuel before travelling farther east and leave room for detours.
Weather and the best time to visit
Match the trip to daylight, road conditions and the forecast. Summer requires careful heat planning, while quieter months can mean reduced services. Read the seasonal weather overview and confirm local opening arrangements.
Day trips and a shorter alternative

Wildlife and responsible travel
